Burton Island State Park, St. Albans
The campground and marina are unique in that the only vehicles around are park service equipment. The most distant campsite isn't much more than a quarter mile from the ferry landing. There are carts around to help you get your gear to the campsite (or the park staff will deliver it for a slight fee). At the marina, dockside water and electricity is available; there is fuel service and a marine holding-tank pump-out facility. Park toilet facilities have running water and hot showers. There is a nature center/museum, a park program coordinator, a park store with food service, rowboat and canoe rentals, public telephone, and places to swim and picnic. With all of these facilities on the north and eastern quarter of the island, there's plenty left to explore along nearly four miles of trail or three miles of shoreline. To make camping reservations write or call the park.
